Organic Meats, Dairy Coming Soon To Honey Hive

The cafe will carry a variety of meat and dairy options from local farms.

If you've been into Honey Hive in the past few weeks, you've likely noticed the new refrigerator case.

Though it is currently empty, sometime soon the case will hold a variety of local, organic meats, eggs, cheese and other farm-fresh products.

The products will be supplied by Southern Maryland Meats, and Honey Hive will be the first store in Anne Arundel County to carry the products.

SMM boasts products from several local farms, including pasture-raised beef, smoked meats, chicken, lamb and pork from En-Tice-Ment Farm in Harwood; grass-fed, pasture-raised, hormone and antibiotic-free beef from Locust Lane Farm in Davidsonville and angus beef from Gambrills-based Maryland Sunrise Farm.

Honey Hive owner Rachel Powers estimates the products could be in the store as early as next week.

Will you stop by Honey Hive at 155 Mitchells Chance Rd. for local meats and cheeses?
