Priest to Bless Hogs for Heroes Motorcycles in Edgewater
As many as 100 motorcyclists are coming to Edgewater to have their bikes "blessed" by a local priest.

If you hear the thunderous roar of a hundred motorcycles in Edgewater Saturday morning, don’t be alarmed.
A local priest is set to bless a horde of motorcycles Saturday in Edgewater as part of the Hogs for Heroes’ annual “Blessing of the Bikes.”
The “blessing” at will occur at 10 a.m. and include Hogs for Heroes chapters from Pennsylvania and Delaware.

Hogs for Heroes is a national organization of motorcycle riders committed to raising money for children of police officers and firefighters killed in the line of duty. They also attend events to show their support of the military and fallen servicemen and women.
Joe McGovern, co-owner of Stan and Joe’s, said he only recently started a relationship with the motorcycle group, but he’s excited to get more involved with the community.

“We’re hoping for every bit of the two chapters and we’re opening early at 10 a.m. for our breakfast and lunch,” McGovern said.
The saloon owner said he didn’t know what a motorcycle blessing looks like, but he’s hoping the turnout is large enough to truly help the Hogs for Heroes charity. Ten percent of the day's sales will go toward the organization, McGovern said.
Hogs for Heroes’ national chaplain, Marty Berman of Laurel, will conduct the blessing in the parking lot outside Stan and Joe’s.
