Riva Man Wows Judges on X Factor

A Riva resident blew judges away this week when he sang in front of Simon Cowell and others on the hit TV show, The X Factor USA.

David Correy, 26, lives in Riva but was adopted from Brazil. He hopes that by performing on the X Factor, he can accomplish two things: Show his voice to the world, and be reunited with his birth mother.

“Every time I’m on stage I go on there with that thought of knowing that I have the opportunity to reconnect with her through what God gave me,” Correy said while speaking to the judges. “We drove 13 hours through the night, two thunderstorms because I believe that I was meant to do this. I feel the not knowing [about his mother] is why I sing with so much soul.”

His performance of Bruno Mars’ “Just the Way You Are” even brought tears to Britney Spears’ eyes.
