Video: Graduates Offer Advice for Incoming High School Students
Be humble and have fun—but not too much fun—are among the lessons learned.
Recent graduates from Annapolis Area Christian School's (AACS) upper campus took some time out of their college preparation to speak with Patch and share important lessons for incoming students.
A theme that emerged among the students was the topic of humility, with each student referencing its importance when it comes to success in the classroom.
The most resounding similarity between the recent graduates was the idea of time.
"Don't blink. It goes by like that," said Devin Price, 18, of Upper Marlboro, as he snapped his fingers.
There were some disagreements between the graduates as well. Joshua Lyman, 18, of Gambrills advised students "not to have too much fun," while Alina Cooper, 18, of Davidsonville offered a more light-hearted approach when she said, "just have fun."
Price even said he wished he took things a little less seriously during his time at AACS.
Lyman is headed to Princeton University, Price to UMBC, Cooper to University of Maryland and the final interviewee, Jenna Hecker, 18, of Annapolis is headed to Anne Arundel Community College in Arnold.
