Accelerant Detection Dogs From Across U.S. Train In Howard County

More than 3 dozen accelerant detection dogs from across the country were in Howard County recently to brush up on their skills.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — This week, 37 accelerant detection canines from across the country and their handlers completed their recertification in Howard County.

During recertification, the canines and their handlers are tested as part of their annual evaluation to make sure that their skills remain sharp.

The accelerant detection canine, Sowell, and his handler, Captain Craig Matthews, with the Howard County Department of Fire Rescue Services, respond to dozens of incidents in Howard County and surrounding jurisdictions each year, the department stated.
