Area Artists on Display in Ellicott City
Beginning this month, artists from the Maryland area will have show off their work at the ART MD exhibit.

More than 40 Maryland-area artists will have their work on display this month at the Howard County Center for the Arts
Nearly 400 artists submitted sculptures, paintings, installations, photography and drawings for the 19th installment of ART MD 2010, a juried, multi-media exhibit sponsored by the Howard County Arts Council. Artists living within a 100-mile radius of the Ellicott City Center are welcome to apply.
Dr. Jack Rasmussen, the director and curator of the American University Museum at the Katzen Arts Center in Washington, D.C., selected 41 works, representing a range of mediums. Artists will include James Adkins, Michael bare, Al Bishop, Aline Feldman, Sarah Laing, Rachel Rotenberg, Joan Tarbell Plato, Chloe Watson, J.L. Stewart Watson.

ART MD began in 1984 as Maryland's Best, which ran yearly through 1989. The next year the show's schedule changed to every two years, and its name changed to ART MD.
Since 2000, the exhibit has expanded to include artists from Delaware, Southeastern and Pennsylvania in addition to Maryland, Virginia, and Washington D.C.

The exhibit opens Oct. 29 at the Howard County Center for the Arts. An exhibit reception is scheduled for Nov. 5 and the exhibit will run through December 10,
2010. Gallery hours are Monday through Friday 10 a.m. – 8 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
