Community Outreach Meeting Planned For Historic Circuit Courthouse

In October, Howard County Executive Ball announced that the former Circuit Courthouse would become a Center for Arts, Culture and History.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — The public is invited to attend a community outreach meeting to discuss the renovation of the Historic Circuit Courthouse on May 30 at 6 p.m.

The meeting will be held in Courtroom 1, Historic Circuit Courthouse, 8360 Court Avenue, Ellicott City. Construction has been scheduled to start on July 1 and, weather permitting, should be wrap up in 2026.

In October, Howard County Executive Calvin Ball announced that the former Circuit Courthouse would be renovated, revitalized and transformed into a Center for Arts, Culture and History. It also will become home to the Howard County Arts Council, the County’s first Asian American and Pacific Islander Cultural Center, the award-winning Roving Radish farm-to-table food program and a shared commercial kitchen.

Originally built in 1842, the building is owned by Howard County and overlooks Main Street in historic downtown. The building was vacated in 2020 with the construction of a new Circuit Courthouse on Judicial Way.
