Ellicott City Cub Scouts: Jimmy Is Awesome
The Cub Scouts of Pack 461 conduct an interview and write a story about their friend, Jimmy.

I'm still getting to know Ellicott City. I've met with council members and police officials, hung out with some business owners and PTA members. But it's not all about grown-ups. I'm trying to keep up with the kids, too.
On Monday night, I spent Valentine's Day with, not one special guy, but 9 of them -- the young men of Cub Scout Pack 461, Den 3. For their final "patch" (get it?) they learned about conducting interviews, taking pictures, writing articles and other aspects of reporting.
Then they got to work.

The Cub Scouts interviewed one of their own, 6-year-old Jimmy Lyons, then wrote an article about him entitled "Jimmy is Awesome."
All the kids were pretty awesome, actually, and did a good job getting the most important information. See for yourself:

Jimmy is Awesome
By: Jordan Braganca, James Hyatt, Flynn Shea, Nicholas Yarnevich, Luke Larcher, Kevin Patrick, Nicholas Kalbaugh and Joseph Welsko
Jimmy is six years old and a 1st grader at in Ellicott City.
His job is going to school, but outside of work he likes to ride scooters with his dad. He does not, however, sing opera.
Jimmy said he also likes to play with is 10-year-old sister, Jackie.
For his favorite holiday, Halloween, Jimmy was Indiana Jones.
His favorite part of the costume was the whip, he said “and the skeleton heads.”
There are a lot of reasons that Jimmy and his den-mates like being in the Cub Scouts.
“We have a nice den leader,” said 7-year-old Nick Yarnevich.
Joseph Welsko, also 7, said, “I love Cub scouts because it is the most fun thing.”
Seven-year-old Luke Larcher got straight to the point: “I just like it.”
Nick Kalbaugh is 6 years old. He likes Cub Scouts because “We go on hikes,” he said.
“I like Cub Scouts because we get to transfer from a tiger to a wolf,” 7-year-old Jordan Braganca said. “And from a wolf to a bear. And from a bear to Webelos, then to Boy Scout.”
And as much as James Hyatt, 7, loves the Cub Scouts, he couldn't help but share another achievement that he was proud of.
“I made a whole city out of paper today," he said, smiling.
