Giant Food Hires New In-Store Nutritionist
Melanie Berdyck has been added to the in-store nutritionist team at the Ellicott City Giant Food location to replace Min Krishnamurthy.

From Giant Food: Giant Food of Landover, Md. announced today that Melanie Berdyck, RDN, LDN, CNSC, ACSM-CPT has joined Giant’s in-store nutritionist team at the Ellicott City Giant store, 9200 Baltimore National Pike, Ellicott City, MD. Berdyck comes to Giant after previously working as a clinical dietitian and a community nutrition educator. She will replace nutritionist Min Krishnamurthy who is being relocated to the Potomac Yard store in order to expand Giant’s services in the Alexandria, VA area.
“We are thrilled to welcome Melanie to the Giant team,” said Lisa Coleman, Lead Nutritionist, Giant Food of Landover, Md. “Her interest and experience in addressing obesity and weight management and her background as a personal trainer provide customers with terrific support and well-designed plans that will cater to their individual goals.”
Berdyck received her Bachelor of Science in Dietetics from Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI, and is pursuing a Master of Science in Applied Nutrition from the University of New England, in Biddeford, ME. In spring 2017, she will complete her specialty certificate in Obesity and Weight Management. She is also a Certified Nutrition Support Clinician and a Certified Personal Trainer. Berdyck first became interested in a career in nutrition after experiencing first-hand the impact and importance nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle had on a family member.

“I saw how important a balanced diet and exercise are for health promotion,” said Berdyck, who wants to continue promoting that balance with her customers. “I want customers to know that they don’t have to make drastic lifestyle changes to improve their health. Practical tips and small steps can lead to great results in one’s overall health.”
Berdyck joins Giant’s team of nine in-store nutritionists across Maryland, the District of Columbia and Virginia who work with customers to help make the best nutritional choices for themselves and their families. Nutritionists conduct one-on-one consultations, store tours and group classes to help their local customers learn about the importance of eating healthily.
