House Fire Spreads From Basement To 2nd Floor, Displacing Residents

An Ellicott City home sustained damage from a fire that spread from the basement to the second floor, displacing residents, officials said.

Units were dispatched around 12:15 p.m. Wednesday and found the single-family house with flames shooting out of the back of the home. The fire spread from the basement to the second floor and took approximately 45 minutes for firefighters to extinguish.

ELLICOTT CITY, MD — Firefighters were called to a home in the 4500 block of Mustering Drum Wednesday afternoon for a report of a house fire.

Units were dispatched around 12:15 p.m. and found the single-family house with flames shooting out of the back of the home. The fire spread from the basement to the second floor and took approximately 45 minutes for firefighters to extinguish, the fire department stated.

No injuries were reported and assistance from the Red Cross was declined.

The Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
