Suspicious Woman and Missing Jewelry: Crime Roundup

Police say a resident returned home Friday to the 9800 block of Cypressmede Drive to find the front door unlocked. The resident, who had been away between 3:30 and 5:30 p.m. could not recall locking the door, police said, but reported a jar of change, jewelry, cash and a lock box missing from the master bedroom closet. 

A neighbor told police that a "suspicious woman" walked by the house carrying something at about 3:30 p.m. A few minutes later, police said, the woman passed the house again, walking in the opposite direction.

Police describe the "suspicious woman" as white, 30-40-years-old with a heavy build and frizzy, shoulder-length brown hair. She was wearing a purple shirt and dark pants.

That same day, one block away, on the 9900 block of Cypressmede Drive at about 7:45 p.m., residents returned home to find the back garage door open, according to police. Nothing appeared to be missing.

Sometime between Sept. 16 and last Friday, a vacant home of the 3600 block of Saint John's Lane was broken into by suspects who kicked in the basement door, according to police. Nothing was stolen, but police report graffiti on a bedroom door and bathroom mirror.

On Thursday, a Glenelg resident arrived home to the 14100 block of Triadelphia Road to find a golf club near the inside front door that wasn't there when he left, according to police. He checked the rest of the house and reported to police that the back basement door was open. On Saturday the resident told police that jewelry was missing from the house.
