Teen Sexually Abused By Howard County Employer Who Coached At Centennial High: HCPD

A man is out on bond after police say he sexually abused a teen who was his employee. The man used to coach at Centennial HS, HCPD said.

According to Howard County Police, the incident happened Aug. 16 at 54-year-old Joshua Duerk's home in Ellicott City. Police were notified Aug. 17 and an investigation into the incident was opened. He has hired teens in the past and used to coach youth.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — An Ellicott City man charged with sexually abusing a 16-year-old boy who he employed has been released from jail after posting a $100,000 bond.

Joshua Duerk, 54, turned himself in to police Aug. 23. He was out on bail Aug. 27.

According to Howard County Police, the incident happened Aug. 16 at Duerk's home in Ellicott City. Police were notified Aug. 17 and an investigation into the incident was opened. Duerk owns a small business and detectives learned he has hired teens in the past. Duerk also was a volunteer coach at Centennial High School from 2007-2010 and regularly attends athletic events at the school, police said.

According to his LinkedIn profile, Duerk owns Duerk & Associates Real Estate Development and Duerk & Associates Commercial Bulk Trash Removal in Columbia.
