Volunteers Needed To Serve On Howard County's Board Of Health
Volunteers both with and without health backgrounds are needed for Howard County's Board of Health. The deadline to apply is June 14.
HOWARD COUNTY, MD — Volunteers are needed to serve on Howard County's Board of Health. Applications are due by June 14.
Board members who have professional or administrative training in a health occupation but aren't working as a health professional or haven't for the past five years are particularly needed.
"Our Howard County Board of Health remains an essential tool to help improve and sustain public health for our residents and our community. The board is a collaborative space for health professionals and the general public to work on health initiatives and community campaigns that encourage and support all of our residents to be healthy and thriving," said Howard County Executive Calvin Ball.

Comprised of 11 members, the board must include one environmental health professional; three health professionals, one which may be a veterinarian; and seven members from the general public.
The following vacancies need to be filled:

- one must be a health professional
- two must not have health training
- one must have environmental health background or training
- one must have professional or administrative training in the health occupations
- one must have professional experience in substance use disorders
- one must have mental health expertise
Board members serve three-year terms. Interested applicants should complete an application online by visiting www.howardcountymd.gov/applybc and selecting “Board of Health” in the form. The names of eligible applicants will be submitted to the county executive for consideration. If approved, the appointment will be forwarded to the County Council for confirmation.
