Eastern Tech Holds Off Hereford in Softball
The Mavericks go into spring break with a 4-2 win over the visiting Bulls.

Senior second baseman hit a two-run home run in the bottom of the third inning as the softball team defeated Hereford, 4-2, on Friday in Essex.
Senior outfielder Alexis Peay went 2-for-2 with three stolen bases while sophomore pitcher Jordan Cargile allowed two runs on seven hits and and struck out six to pick up the win for the Mavericks (4-1).

Eastern Tech Baseball: Pitcher Chris Hook went 2-for-4 with two RBIs as the Mavericks rallied to take a late lead before falling, 6-5, at Catonsville in eight innings on Friday.
The Mavericks (3-2) trailed 4-3 before scoring twice in the top of the seventh. But the Comets tied the game at five in the bottom of the seventh before scoring the game-winner in the next inning.
Hook pitched the final 2 2/3 innings as he allowed two earned runs, one hit, struck out four and walked two to pick up the loss.
Matt Evans started the game and allowed four runs, two earned, five hits, struck out one and walked one in five innings.
Eastern Tech will play Hammond and host in the Dulaney holiday tournament on Monday. The tournament kicks off at 10 a.m.
Kenwood Track: The Bluebirds girls placed fourth and the boys finished in 14th place in the County Relays Thursday at .

- The girls triple jump team—Loreen Nebo, Alyn Sankar and Telema Korkpan—placed first.
- The girls 8x200 meter dash team—Rayven Ray, Shaneara Terry, Ariel Brown, Diamond Hunter, Lexus Satterfield, Alyn Sankar, Loreen Nebo, and Telema Korkpan—placed first.
- The girls 4x100 meter dash team—Diamond Hunter, Rayven Ray, Shaneara Terry and Lexus Satterfield—placed third.
- The girls 4x400 team—Monique Brittingham, Telema Korkpan, Rachel Bauer and Jada Boyd—placed fifth.
- The girls distance medley team—Kaitlynn Armstrong, Loreen Nebo, Jada Boyd and Rachel Bauer—placed fifth.
- The girls shuttle hurdle team—Rayven Ray, Ariel Brown, Diamond Hunter and Brieana Jackson—placed fourth.
- The girls discus team—Jessica Nwachukwu, Yuling Lok and Jasmine Ray—took fourth
- Shaneara Terry broke the school's girls pole vault record with a clearance of 8 feet.
- The boys long jump team—Travis Jenkins, Nigel Moore and Tyshauwn Owens—took fourth.
- The boys high jump team—Travis Jenkins, Jonathan Richardson and Terrell Griffin—placed second.
