Football: First-Year Kenwood Coach Out

The school's athletic director declined to comment on the change.

After rebounding from a winless season with a 3-3 start, Kenwood High's first-year football coach is out of the post.

Stephen Von Canon was removed from the coaching position Tuesday. Assistant coach Brian Powell will serve as interim coach for the remainder of the season, Kenwood athletic director Derek Maki said in an email. Maki declined to comment further on the circumstances surrounding Von Canon's removal. Von Canon also teaches science at Kenwood.

Von Canon did not respond to a phone message left Tuesday.
