Gas Prices Are No April Fool's Day Joke

The price for regular unleaded continues to rise at a record pace, AAA reports.

 

The price to fill up your car at the pump continues to be more expensive in Maryland, compared to the rest of the country.

The average cost for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline spiked to $3.97 on Sunday in Maryland, up four cents from the previous week and 36 cents from the same time a year ago, according to the latest AAA survey.

Nationally, the average cost for regular unleaded was $3.93 a gallon on Sunday, up four cents from a week ago and 30 cents from a year ago, the survey continued.

AAA reports that the average cost for filling up should hit $4 a gallon in the coming week or so and likely surpass the all-time record national average of $4.11—set in July 2008—well ahead of the Memorial Day weekend, the traditional start of the summer driving season.

According to a AAA news release, prices are still expected to peak at around $4.25 a gallon before any release is offered to motorists.
