Nancy Pelosi Revisits Baltimore Roots in TV Interview
The Speaker Emerita Talks 'Star-Spangled Banner' in Election Year

Rep. Nancy Pelosi gave a mention to Baltimore during her interview on MSNBC-TV on Monday, and used a line from the national anthem to illustrate what must be done during Election 2024.
"Well let me just say that the Republicans have always tried to wrap themselves in the flag while they denigrate it," Pelosi said. "I come from Baltimore, Maryland, originally, where the national anthem was written, and in the national anthem, my favorite line is, '...proof through the night that our flag was still there.'"
Speaker Emerita Pelosi, who represents California's 11th Congressional District, also mentioned several other accomplishments, including The CHIPS and Science Act, "about not only creating the chips opportunities but the scientific opportunity for young people who have not been able to participate, to participate."

She underscored the importance of passing the PACT Act "to help our veterans who have been exposed to burn pits and the rest." She also said another important accomplishment was the Rescue Package, "we put shots in the arms, money in the pocket, put children back in school."
