Oliver Beach Couple Wins $1 Million From Scratch-Off

Anna Belle Davis bought the winning ticket at a Royal Farms store in Chase.

Rick Davis was already having a great Sunday as he watched the Ravens handle the Pittsburgh Steelers in the NFL opening week game.

Little did he know, his day was about to get much better.

Anna Belle Davis, his wife, is not a big football fan, so the resident decided to make a trip to her local Royal Farms store for some mint chocolate chip ice cream. Davis, a 52-year-old leasing agent, scratched the ticket with her “lucky quarter” and was stunned when she had a match. Her husband had to calm her down after she realized she had won.

“At first I was like ‘you didn’t win,’” Rick Davis, an independent truck driver, told Patch. “Then we realized it was real.”

The Davises, along with their nephew Scott, claimed their prize on Monday at Maryland Lottery headquarters. However, just a few days later, life returned to somewhat normal for the couple, who have been married for 10 years.

Rick Davis was already back on the road, and Anna Belle—like her husband—has no plans of retiring anytime soon. Still, the couple feels comfortable knowing they can pay off some bills, and know that when they do retire, they can do so comfortably.

“It won’t be happening soon, but to know that it will be happening eventually is wonderful,” Anna Belle told the Maryland Lottery in a statement.
