3 Teens Arrested In Gaithersburg After Fleeing In Stolen SUV: PD

GAITHERSBURG, MD — Authorities say three people, including two juveniles, were arrested in Gaithersburg Tuesday night after fleeing from police in a stolen vehicle.

Dewaun Matthew Jordan, 18, of Gaithersburg, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, methamphetamine, and conspiracy to commit auto theft, according to police. Jvar Rashad Allen, 17, and Tejion James Jones, 16, were both charged as adults with offenses to include vehicle theft and possession of a handgun.

Around 10:50 p.m. on Tuesday, Gaithersburg police received a call for a possible residential burglary in the unit block of Sunnyside Court. Officers were told that two suspects may be armed, and that they fled in an orange Volkswagen SUV.

Police said they pursued the Volkswagen onto Central and Oakmont avenues, where it crashed. Both the driver and passenger fled on foot.

"After an extensive search with the use of K9s, officers from the Montgomery County Police, and with assistance from the Maryland State Police Aviation Command, the suspects were seen heading in the area of Nina Court. While on a perimeter, officers from the Gaithersburg Police – Street Crimes Unit observed a silver Acura leaving the area of Nina Court at a high rate of speed," police said.

The vehicle fled to the area of Bralan Lane before coming to a stop. Three people then exited the vehicle and fled on foot.

After a brief foot pursuit, all three suspects were placed under arrested.

Police said they searched the suspects and found a handgun in both Jones and Allen's waistbands.

Authorities later determined that the orange Volkswagen was stolen. They also determined that the suspects didn't burglarize the home, but may have stolen property from cars.

Jones, Allen, and Jordan are being held at the Montgomery County Detention Center in Rockville. Bond information has not yet been released.
