Accreditation Assessment Team Invites Public Comment on July 11
Public input in the process of accreditation for the Gaithersburg Police Department will be welcome at a public information session Monday.

Gaithersburg, MD – (July 8, 2016) A team of assessors from the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc. (CALEA®) will arrive in Gaithersburg on July 10, 2016, to examine all aspects of the Gaithersburg Police Department’s policies, procedures, management, operations, and support services.
“Verification by the team that Gaithersburg meets the Commission’s state-of-the-art standards is part of a voluntary process to gain accreditation - a highly prized recognition of public safety professional excellence,” said Chief Mark P. Sroka.

As part of the on-site assessment, City employees and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public information session on Monday, July 11 at 5 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 31 S. Summit Ave, Gaithersburg, MD. Public comment will also be accepted via telephone between the hours of 1 and 3 p.m. on July 11. To comment, call 301-258-6400 and ask for the CALEA team.
Telephone comments and appearances at the public information session are limited to ten minutes and must address the Department’s ability to comply with CALEA’s standards.
