Driver Killed While Working On Tractor-Trailer At Weigh Station

A tractor-trailer driver was killed after his own truck rolled over him at a weigh station in Montgomery County Friday morning, police said.

HYATTSTOWN, MD — A tractor-trailer driver was killed after his own truck rolled over him at a weigh station in Montgomery County Friday morning.

The incident occurred at about 11:20 a.m. at a weigh station off Interstate 270 in Hyattstown, according to a statement from Maryland State Police.

James Lee Hobbs, 58, of Salisbury was making adjustments on his truck after he received brake violations from a state trooper at the weigh station.

Hobbs didn't engage the parking brake on his truck, which rolled back and over him while he was underneath it, police said.

He was declared dead at the scene.

No one else was injured in the incident, police said.

The death remains under investigation.
