In acclaimed visual artist Vian Borchert's solo art exhibition titled "Chromatic Landscapes", the artist presents her latest green landscapes along with a number of cityscapes and seascapes.

Borchert aimed for the exhibition to encompass the landscape genre with all its numerous variety form green floral landscapes that illustrate the artist's deep love for nature, to lavender hued cityscapes that celebrate the love for architecture and appreciation for monumental landmarks, as well as scenic abstracted seascapes that engulf the beauty of the big blue and sunset reflections.

"Chromatic Landscapes" is currently ongoing and on view at the Framer's Choice Gallery in downtown Kentlands. The exhibition continues till the end of October. Original paintings by Borchert are available at the gallery for art lovers and collectors alike to view and take in the painterly world of this visionary artist. Especially for the month of October, the artist also added new works to the exhibition that celebrate color and her abstracted minimal aesthetics. Paintings such as "Dawn" and "Yellows and Blues" adorn the display window of the gallery. The display window abstract paintings embody Fall colors and a joyful colorful palette to add much glow and vibrancy to the gallery's vitrine space. The colorful abstract paintings in the display window represent the artist's signature and trademark pieces embodying the artist's strong expressionist touch for which she is well known for. These powerful large abstract paintings have been influential and inspiring to DMV artists and international artists alike. As a long time professional and working artist and educator, Borchert though advises budding and emerging artists to stay authentic and original and develop their own vision rather than replicating another artist's vision and art. An advice that is very much needed especially for self-taught artists who resort to social media to create derivative and imitative art. A walk within the gallery leads one to a wall of green and yellow landscapes which take the viewer to floral landscapes and highland moors through an artful journey that embraces nature and its bountiful glory. The latest floral landscapes are accompanied by short poems that the artist feels capture the essence of each of these paintings, and embrace the power of flowers.

For "Wild Flowers" painting, here is its short poem:

"Here we stand together
one flower after another
dancing in the wind
caressed by the gentle breeze
standing tall!"

For "Floral Shadows" painting, here is its short poem:

"With every flower growing
there is a story
of love for the land
and the appreciation for the hand
that planted the seed.”

These floral landscapes are in a way an homage to the artist's favorite work of literature as a child. The artist's through these paintings revisits her favorite novels such as "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Brontë, and "The Secret Garden" by Frances Hodgson Burnett. In Borchert's painting "Highland Floras," the artist reimagines the love story of "Wuthering Heights" and its main characters, Heathcliff and Cathy. Borchert imagines the fictional lovers running into her green landscape fields to embrace secretly away from the forbadding eyes. Hence, the wild countryside with its floral fields becomes a huge part of the love story. The paintings don't only represent a romantic take and a nostalgic reminiscence to classic literature, but also highlight Borchert's own deep love and appreciation for nature. After all, nature for the artist is endlessly giving and always inspiring. Borchert also seeks through these landscapes for herself and the viewer to attain feelings of freedom and how liberating such feelings can be to the human soul. The artist states, “Who doesn't remember as a child running in a flower field and experiencing absolute freedom and joy that one can only attain through such an action. For I have found through my work in art and in meditation to reach freedom, one has to seek nature and be in absolute alignment with nature to finally find that sweet spot of freedom.”

On another side of the gallery, a sea of lavender and purple toned vertical cityscapes line up to showcase Borchert's love and deep appreciation for architecture. In these works, Borchert reveals the architect hidden within her and love for structure and geometry along with historical landmarks such as the Empire State building and the Flatiron building. The picturesque buildings stand tall to highlight Borchert's message "to look up, dream big and keep on imagining."

The artwork is on view at the physical gallery. The artist advises all to go and have a look at the actual work in the gallery to see the interplay of pigments and texture and enjoy the paintings' beauty fully. Nevertheless, the artist also has the exhibition's work viewable via a virtual gallery tour to give viewers far and near the chance to see the work as well.
