Gaithersburg Chorus Presents Winter Concerts in December

The Gaithersburg Chorus will perform winter concerts December 9 and 10.

GAITHERSBURG, MD – The Gaithersburg Chorus presents its Winter Concert featuring holiday favorites and selections by Stephen Sondheim, John Rutter and Eric Whitacre. Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, December 9 at Gaithersburg Presbyterian Church, 610 South Frederick Avenue, and on Saturday, December 10 at the Rosborough Theatre at Asbury Methodist Village, 409 Russell Avenue. The Gaithersburg High School Chamber Singers will sing an opening set during the December 9 performance.

The Gaithersburg Chorus, now in its 29th year, is directed by Daniel Hopkins. Accompaniment for these concerts is provided by Teresa McCoy. Admission is free, and donations are gratefully accepted. All ages are welcome.

The Gaithersburg Chorus requires no audition to join and is open to anyone high school aged or older. The next opportunity to join will be in January. Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. September through June. Two annual concerts are presented, with the Chorus performing at various special events throughout the year. This program is presented by the City of Gaithersburg Cultural Arts Advisory Committee and supported by a grant from the Maryland State Arts Council, an agency dedicated to cultivating a vibrant cultural community where the arts thrive. Funding for the Maryland State Arts Council is also provided by the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency that believes that a great nation deserves great art.
