Gaithersburg Honors Military Personnel Nov. 11 On Veterans Day
The City of Gaithersburg's Veterans Day Observance on Friday, Nov. 11, will feature guest speaker Col. Jeff Marquez, U.S. Army (retired).

GAITHERSBURG, MD — In observance of Veterans Day, city of Gaithersburg offices and most facilities will be closed on Friday, Nov. 11, with the exception of the following:
- The Activity Center will be closed to the general public, but open for scheduled city programs.
- Youth Centers will run on regular schedule.
- Amazing Afternoons will run on regular schedule.
- The Aquatic Center will open from 5:15 to 6:30 p.m. for lap swim only.
- Police Department administrative offices will be open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- The Arts Barn will be open for an 8 p.m. performance of Improbable Comedy.
- City sports practice and field rentals will run on a regular schedule.
The collection of recycled materials will take place as scheduled. On-demand bulk pick-up for residents whose regular recycling day is Friday, Nov. 11 will be unavailable. Appointments can be made for the following week via the online form, by emailing BulkPickUp@gaithersburgmd.gov, or by calling 301-258-6370.
The community is invited to join the City of Gaithersburg for its Veterans Day Observance on Friday, Nov. 11, honoring and recognizing all U.S. military personnel who play an important role in safeguarding our nation and our future. The observance takes place at 11 a.m. at the City Hall Concert Pavilion, 31 S. Summit Ave.

The patriotic ceremony will include words and music to commemorate the occasion, followed by a wreath-laying ceremony. Joining the observance will be special guest speaker Col. Jeff Marquez, United States Army (retired).
