Big Brothers Moving owner punished for six civil citations

A Montgomery County District Court judge has ordered a Gaithersburg business owner to pay a $3,000 fine for holding goods hostage and other violations.
Adam Shaikh of Big Brothers Moving was tried last week for six civil citations issued by the Montgomery County Office of Consumer Protection, Montgomery County officials said in a news release Wednesday.
In addition to holding goods hostage, the violations included failure to state if a moving estimate is binding or non-binding, misrepresenting services included in estimates and charging extra for these services, and misrepresenting on the company’s website that Big Brothers Moving was licensed and insured.
