Gaithersburg Resident Wins Age Group In Chicago Triathlon

Gaithersburg's Jeanne Lappin wins the sprint distance Chicago Triathlon for the female age 55-59 division.

Nearly 675 miles from home, a Gaithersburg native ran, swam and biked her way to a victory in the Chicago Triathlon.

Jeanne Lappin won the Sunday, Aug. 26, sprint distance Chicago Triathlon in the female age 55-59 division with a time of 1:28:28.

The sprint competition required a .75 kilometer (.47 mile) swim, 22 kilometer (13.64 mile) bike ride, and 5 kilometer (3.1 mile) run.

Lappin was the only Maryland competitor to win a race at the event.
