Gaithersburg Woman Dies From Injuries In Dec. 26 Crash: Police

A Gaithersburg woman died from injuries suffered in a Dec. 26 crash. She was driving a Honda Civic that collided with a van, police said.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A driver involved in a crash on Dec. 26 has died from her injuries, and Montgomery County Police are trying to determine what caused the collision. Authorities released the victim's name on Jan. 3.

About 12:16 p.m., 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Frederick Road and Wheatfield Drive for a two-vehicle collision.

Police said a blue 2007 Honda Civic driven by Daniela Fernanda Pineda, 20, of Gaithersburg, was southbound on Frederick Road, when for reasons unknown, the car crossed the median and struck a white, 2021 Ford transit van traveling northbound.

The adult male driver of the white Ford was taken to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Pineda was taken in critical condition to an area hospital, where she later died from her injuries, police said.
