Learn About Model Building at Community Museum’s Discovery Day

From the City of Gaithersburg: Learn about model building at Discovery Day at the Gaithersburg Community Museum on Sunday, April 23, 2017, from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free. This event is recommended for ages six and older. No reservations are required.


Model building is a great hobby that produces scaled versions of everything from ships and automobiles to rockets, buildings and even military figures. Explore this fascinating pastime with hands-on activities and demonstrations by hobbyists and local hobby groups.

Model building organizations, individuals and related retail business are invited to participate in this event. There is no fee to participate; however participating businesses are asked to donate model kits or give certificates for prize giveaways. To participate, complete the application form on the Museum webpage at www.gaithersburgmd.gov under “Related Documents.”

Discovery Days stir the imagination and foster family involvement in a fun and stimulating environment.

The Gaithersburg Community Museum is located at 9 South Summit Avenue. Regular museum hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with additional hours by appointment.
