Man Charged With Vandalizing Multiple MCPD Police Cruisers
A Silver Spring man was arrested for vandalizing two Montgomery County Police cars in Gaithersburg and assaulting three police officers.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — A Silver Spring man was arrested for vandalizing two Montgomery County Police cars in Gaithersburg and assaulting police officers while getting arrested.
Hector A. Pacheco, 24, was arrested on Monday, June 18, police said.
An off-duty officer who was in the area of 9800 block of Washingtonian Blvd. was notified by a resident that a man was using a rock to break break the passenger side window of a nearby police cruiser.

Witnesses provided a description of Pacheco and said he had walked toward a nearby shopping center, police said.
The officer identified himself and Pacheco fled from the officer and attempted to exit the store. On-duty officers, who had responded to assist the off-duty officer, located Pacheco at the entrance to the store and attempted to take him into custody.

Pacheco assaulted three on-duty officers before he was eventually taken into custody, police said. The officers sustained minor injuries and were treated at the scene.
Detectives determined Pacheco was the same man who vandalized a police cruiser on Mahogany Circle on June 6.
Pacheco was charged with two counts of destruction of property, resisting arrest, and three counts of second-degree assault. He was released after posting a $5,000 bond, police said.
