Man Who Stabbed Woman In Gaithersburg Fatally Struck By Train: Police
A man under investigation for the stabbing of a woman was struck and killed by a train in Gaithersburg Thursday night, police said.
GAITHERSBURG, MD — A man under investigation for the stabbing of a woman earlier in the evening was struck and killed by a train in Gaithersburg Thursday night, according to officials.
Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service spokesman Pete Piringer said an adult was struck and suffered traumatic injuries on the CSX Railroad tracks in the area of E. Diamond Avenue and Railroad Street in Gaithersburg. At about 10:10 p.m. on Thursday, Piringer said the person had died.
The Gaithersburg Police Department said the stabbing of the woman in a domestic-related assault occurred in the 500 block of Girard Street in Gaithersburg around 9 p.m. According to police, the suspect matched the description of a pedestrian who was struck by a train less than an hour later.

When they arrived at the Girard Street address, officers found a 51-year-old female victim suffering from a stabbing. The woman was taken to an area hospital in critical condition. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and was later hit by the train, according to police.
As of Friday morning, the woman was in stable condition, police said.
