Montgomery County Reopens Swimming Pools, Aquatic Centers

Montgomery County has reopened its outdoor swimming pools and aquatic centers to pass-holders.

GAITHERSBURG, MD — After months of being shuttered due to COVID-19, Montgomery County has reopened its seven outdoor swimming pools and three aquatic centers to pass-holders.

Outdoor pools are open for two-hour recreational swimming sessions between noon and 8 p.m., seven days a week.

Indoor aquatic centers are open for lap swimming only. The facilities will be open for two-hour sessions between 6 a.m. and 8 p.m., Monday through Friday, and between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m., Saturday and Sunday.

All swim sessions require a reservation, which can be made online at www.ActiveMONTGOMERY.org. Instructions on how to reserve a swim session can be found at www.mocorec.com/aquatics.

  • All patrons two years old and over must use a face covering while on the pool deck, in common areas and when social distancing is not possible. Face coverings are not required when in the water.
  • Family groups are asked to stay together. Individuals and family groups are asked to maintain at least six feet of social distancing from others at all times.
  • Pool features including crossing features, saunas, hot tubs and the lazy river are closed. All wading pools — also known as baby pools or tot pools — remain closed.
