• Gaithersburg High Staff Star in Viral T-Pain Video Encouraging Students to Get to School on Time (mocoshow.com) — Gaithersburg High School’s student government just scored a viral hit with a playful T-Pain–themed video urging classmates to show up to school on time. Staff from administrators to security joined in, helping spotlight a “new year, new attitude” push on punctuality while showing a more relaxed, relatable side of the adults students see every day.
   

• Montgomery Co. police charge 147 with DUI during holiday initiative, with more planned (wtop.com) — Gaithersburg residents should know local police are partnering in a countywide DUI task force that has already led to 147 drunk-driving charges during the holiday season. The initiative, involving Gaithersburg and Rockville police, will continue with extra enforcement on Super Bowl Sunday and added focus on pedestrian, cyclist, and distracted driving safety throughout 2026.
   

• Olympic Icon Dominique Dawes To Bring Gymnastics Empire Back Home To Maryland In 2026 (dailyvoice.com) — Gaithersburg readers may be especially interested that Olympic legend Dominique Dawes once attended Gaithersburg High School and is expanding her family-focused gymnastics academies across Montgomery County. A new Silver Spring location will join existing gyms in Clarksburg and Rockville, all built around a healthier, more positive culture for young athletes.
