Report: Changes Coming To Two Key Lakelands Intersections

Gaithersburg will remove parking spaces to improve road safety, The Town Courier reported.

Parking spaces near two key Lakelands intersections will be removed by the city of Gaithersburg in order to improve safety along neighborhood roads, The Town Courier reported.

Several parking spaces on Main Street where it intersects Market Street East and on Golden Ash Way where it intersects Market Street East are slated to be removed in the coming weeks, according to the report.

The issue had been brought to several Lakelands boards by neighborhood residents over the years, said Gary Simon, operations manager at Comsource, the community’s property management company, The Town Courier reported.

“The primary concern revolved around the high rate of speed with which people drove through the community. In particular, Golden Ash [Way] was of concern,” Simon told The Town Courier.

Gaithersburg Engineering Services Director Ollie Mumpower said the cost associated with the reconfiguration of the intersections will be absorbed by the city and "no parking" signs would be put up at each location, according to the report.
