A Third Of MoCo Residents Haven't Completed Census: Officials
Officials estimate that Montgomery County will lose $18,250 in federal funds for every person not counted over ten years.
GAITHERSBURG, MD — With about five months left to turn in their replies, about two-thirds of Montgomery County households have self-responded to the 2020 U.S. Census, according to county officials.
The decennial census has been conducted every 10 years since 1790, as required by the U.S. Constitution. But the census does more than just take a tally of your community.
"A full and accurate count of everyone in Montgomery County will help assure our communities receive a fair share of funding for public services, hospitals, schools, roads and more," officials said in a statement. "It is estimated that Montgomery County will lose $18,250 in federal funds for every person not counted over ten years."
