What's Open, Closed For Christmas Weekend 2022 In Gaithersburg

GAITHERSBURG, MD — In observance of the Christmas holiday, most city of Gaithersburg and Montgomery County facilities and offices will be closed on Monday, Dec. 26.

Make sure to check out when libraries are closed, alterations to train and bus schedules, and other changes that will happen from Dec. 24-26.

Below are the openings and closures to know for the Christmas weekend in Gaithersburg and Montgomery County:

  • Montgomery County office buildings: Closed Dec. 24-26.
  • State offices and courts: Closed Dec. 26.
  • Post offices: Closed on Dec. 26.
  • State Motor Vehicle Administration offices and Vehicle Emissions Inspection Program stations: Closed Dec. 24 and Dec. 26.
  • Libraries: Closed Dec. 25-26.
  • The Activity Center at Bohrer Park, Casey Community Center, Gaithersburg Aquatic Center, Community Museum, and Kentlands Mansion will be closed.

  • All city facilities are closed.
  • The Winter Lights Festival is closed.
  • The Administrative Offices of the Gaithersburg Police Station are closed. Police patrol will remain on duty. For emergencies, call 911. For non-emergencies, dial 301-279-8000 for dispatch.

  • Most city facilities are closed.
  • Recycling will take place as scheduled; no Bulk Pick Up.
  • Police Department Administrative Offices will open from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Gaithersburg Aquatic Center will be open from 5:15 to 8:30 p.m.

County-operated COVID-19 Vaccination and Testing Clinics: Clinics at UpCounty Regional Services Center in Germantown, Dennis Avenue Center in Silver Spring and the East County Regional Services Center will be open on Monday, Dec. 26. All sites will be closed for testing and vaccinations Dec. 24-25. Montgomery College-Rockville campus and Germantown campus testing and vaccination sites will be closed from Dec. 24 to Jan. 2.

Department of Permitting Services: All offices, including customer service lobby, are closed on Dec. 26.

Ride On: Operates a Saturday schedule until 10 p.m. on Dec. 24. Operates on a Sunday schedule on Dec. 25-26. All schedules can be found at Routes and Schedules.

Ride On extRa and Ride On Flex: Not in service Dec. 24-26.

Flash: Will operate on a weekend schedule Dec. 24-26 (Orange Line only).

TRiPS: Mobile Commuter Store: Closed Dec. 25-26.

Metrorail: Trains will operate from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24, from 7 a.m. to midnight on Sunday, Dec. 25, and from 7 a.m. to midnight on Monday, Dec. 26.

Metrobus: Buses will operate on their Sunday schedule on Dec. 25-26.

Public Parking Garages, Lots, Curbside Meters: Posted rates and restrictions in effect on Dec. 24. Parking is free on Dec 26.

County-provided trash and recycling: Regular collection schedules on Dec. 26.

Shady Grove Transfer Station and Recycling Center: Entire facility closed on Dec. 25. Transfer Station and Recycling Center open on Dec. 26.

Aquatic Centers: Will close at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. Will be closed on Sunday, Dec. 25. Open on Monday, Dec. 26.

Community Recreation Centers: Will close at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 24. Closed on Dec. 25-26.
Senior Centers: Closed Dec. 26.
