Train Hits, Kills 2 Women In Germantown: Police

Two women were struck and killed by a freight​ train in Germantown​ Wednesday night, police said

(Updated 1:30 p.m. Thursday): GERMANTOWN, MD — Two women were struck and killed by a freight train in Germantown Wednesday night, Montgomery County Police said.

The incident occurred at about 8:28 p.m. in the area of Waring Station Road and Peach Crest Drive, police said.

Police said the women were hit by a westbound CSX train while on the railroad tracks.

They were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police identified the women Thursday afternoon as: Cristina Segovia, 30, of Gaithersburg and Daianne Peralta, 25, of an unconfirmed address.

Investigation revealed the train operator saw the women and sounded the train’s horn and applied the train’s brakes, police said.

Police continue to investigate why the women were on the tracks.
