Most Flights Canceled at BWI During Hurricane Sandy

Baltimore-Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport announced airlines canceled all flights after 9 a.m. Monday, and more cancellations are expected as Hurricane Sandy continues to pass the northeast through Tuesday, according to an airport spokesperson.

"The airlines are working to determine when they will resume service at BWI Marshall and at other airports throughout the east," said Jonathan Dean, a spokesperson for BWI. "The resumption of airline service is dependent on weather conditions here locally and at other airports throughout the eastern United States.

Dean said there are "very few" passengers staying in the airport terminal.

The official Twitter page for BWI posted this at 4:45 p.m. Monday:

"…BWI remains open, but airlines ceased flight operations this morning. Extensive airline [cancellations] expected Tues, too."
