Following the jury verdict, State’s Attorney Anne Colt Leitess said, “The defendant killed the victim during the course of a robbery, thereby making this a felony first-degree murder. Our laws are meant to deter people from committing dangerous felonies where death of any person is a foreseeable result. I am glad the jury saw this clearly and their verdict will provide some peace for Mr. Martin’s family.”

His manner of death was later ruled a homicide by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. The cause of death was determined to be gunshot wounds.
Anne Arundel County Police homicide detectives recovered 9mm shell casings near the victim’s car and fingerprints lifted from the victim’s car. A witness said she heard two gunshots and saw a silver sedan fleeing the scene.
Another witness said Martin said he was going to meet “Ando,” later identified as Aguilar-Amaya, and another man to conduct a drug transaction.
