Glen Burnie: Strong arm robbery

A 16-year-old boy was robbed on the Baltimore and Annapolis Bike Trail in Glen Burnie Sunday afternoon, police said.

According to police, the boy was walking on the trail in the 7400 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard when a man approached him and struck up a conversation with him before grabbing him and stealing some cigarettes from the victim’s pocket. The suspect then ran south on the trail toward New Jersey Avenue.

Officers searched the area but were unable to find the suspect, who is described as a white man in his mid 20s who stands about 5-foot-6-inches tall and is about 145 pounds. According to police he has a tattoo of “RIP Mike Cann” on his neck and a spider web on his right ear.

Glen Burnie: Armed robbery

A man robbed the Family Dollar located in the 7400 block of E. Furnace Branch Road in Glen Burnie at gunpoint March 30, police said.

According to police, a man entered the store, displayed a handgun and demanded money from the clerk, who complied and gave him an undisclosed amount of money. The man then fled on foot. Officers and a K-9 united searched the area but were unable to locate the man.

Annapolis: Drug and gun arrests

Anne Arundel County Police arrested four people, including two Glen Burnie men, at the Homestead Suites on Admiral Cochrane Drive in Annapolis March 29 and charged them with drug and handgun possession.

According to a release, police arrived at the hotel at 4 p.m. Tuesday to investigate a complaint of drugs. Detectives arrested the four men in one of the rooms, charging them with drug possession and theft. Police said they also recovered three loaded handguns from the room.

Three of the people arrested also had outstanding criminal arrest warrants, according to the release.

Police said the detectives found about 13 grams of marijuana worth about $260 on the street, about 1 gram of crack cocaine worth about $110, some prescription medication and various forms of drug paraphernalia.

Police arrested and charged the following people:

  • Joshua Paul Crandall, 30, of Glen Burnie. Charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and the possession of a stolen handgun.
  • Richard Omar Knight, 22, of Glen Burnie. Charged with possession marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, the possession of a stolen handgun, making a false statement to an officer and theft under $500.
  • Thurell Ricks, 21, of Annapolis. Charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a stolen handgun and making a false statement to an officer.
  • Eric M Douglas, 22, of Annapolis. Charged with possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance and the possession of a stolen handgun.

Glen Burnie: Shooting

A 23-year-old Snow Hill man who was shot in the parking lot of Marley Station Mall Tuesday afternoon is listed as being in stable condition, police said.

At about 12:45 p.m. police received report of a man being shot and responded to the Dunkin' Donuts at Ritchie Highway and Jumpers Hole Road in Pasadena.

Once on the scene, officers learned that the man, who police said they believe is in his 20s, was shot in the parking lot of Marley Station Mall and taken to the Dunkin' Donuts by two acquaintances, said Anne Arundel County Police spokesman Justin Mulcahy.

According to witness reports made to the police, the suspects are believed to be two men who fled the scene heading south on Ritchie Highway in a dark gray Honda. Police said initial investigation indicates that the shooting was not a random act of violence.

The man was shot in the upper torso and taken by ambulance to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, Mulcahy said, and was in stable condition as of 5 p.m. Tuesday.

The reason for the shooting was still under investigation with many police officers in the parking lot near Ruby Tuesday and Rocky Run Tap & Grill.

The investigation is ongoing.

Glen Burnie/Severn: Drug arrest

A Severn man was arrested Tuesday after police found over $26,000 worth of cocaine and other drug-related items in his home off of Golden Pine Circle, according to police.

Special Enforcement detectives arrested Roger Brown, 34, as he was exiting his vehicle near Quarterfield Road and Parke West Drive in Glen Burnie after receiving a tip in February that he was distributing cocaine.

After arresting Brown, police conducted a search of two separate residences at the 400 block of Pamela Road in Glen Burnie and the 7800 block of Golden Pine Circle in Severn.

After searching both locations and conducting further investigations, detectives found about 267.18 grams of crack cocaine and cocaine HCL (powder) worth about $26,718, according to police.

In addition to the drugs, police seized about $330, a 2001 Dodge Durango and a 2005 Acura TL.

Brown, a resident of the Golden Pine Circle residence, is charged as a drug kingpin and was also charged with two counts of distribution of crack cocaine and other cocaine possession charges.

Brooklyn Park: Robbery arrest

Police arrested a man March 26 and charged him with the March 21 robbery of a man outside the Gulf gas station in the 5700 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park around 10:15 p.m.

Christopher Lee Brown, 35, of Baltimore was arrested and charged with robbery, theft under $100, fleeing and alluding and other related charges.

Officers responded to a robbery report at the Gulf gas station March 21 where they spoke with a 65-year-old man who told police he was inside the gas station when a man approached him from behind and removed his wallet.

According to police, detectives obtained evidence that implicated Brown and got a warrant for his arrest.
