Glen Burnie: Accident

An 85-year-old woman was taken to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore Monday afternoon after being in a two-vehicle accident in Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County Fire officials said.

The woman was inolved in an accident at the intersection of Ritchie Highway and Cherry Lane, Anne Arundel County Police officials said. Police said the two-vehicle accident possibly involved a flat-bed tractor-trailer and a gold Chrysler.

The woman was listed in serious but not life threatening condition when she was taken by ambulance to Shock Trauma, said fire spokesman Lt. Clifford Kooser.

Glen Burnie: Burglary/assault arrest

Police arrested a Glen Burnie man Sunday and charged him with burglary, assault and drug charges.

Steven Richard Rohrback, 46, was charged with first-, third- and fourth-degree burglary, first- and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, destruction of property, two counts of theft under $100, trespassing, and possession of suspected crack cocaine and paraphernalia.

Police responded to the 400 block of Glen Mar Circle in Glen Burnie at about 11:45 a.m. Sunday for a reported domestic assault, police said.

According to police, officers spoke with a 42-year-old woman who said she had been asleep in her apartment when she awoke to Rohrback, whom she knows, strangling her. She said that two women who were in the apartment helped her fight Rohrback off of her and kick him out of the apartment. However, police said, Rohrback attempted to get back into the apartment before running away from the scene.

Upon futher investigation, police said they learned Rohrback forced his way into the apartment and stole an undisclosed amount of money.

Officers searched the area and found Rohrback in the 300 block of Hospital Drive. Police searched him and found suspected crack cocaine and paraphernalia on him, police said.

Linthicum: Attempted armed robbery

Two men attempted to rob the Checkers located in the 6800 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Linthicum Friday, police said.

Police responded to the Checkers at about 10:20 p.m. Friday where they spoke with an employee who said two men approached the outside order window, ordered food and then announced a robbery when one man displayed a handgun, put it through the window and demanded money. Police said no money was given to the men and they ran toward Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard.

Officers, a K-9 unit and an aviation unit searched the area but were unable to locate the men.

Glen Burnie: Two-car accident

A man in his early 20s was taken to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after he lost control of his Volkswagen and was struck by an SUV Monday, police said.

According to Maryland State Police Trooper David Parsons, at about 4:08 p.m. the driver of the Volkswagen was entering Interstate 97 from Maryland Route 100 when he lost control of the car, likely due to rainy conditions. The Volkswagen was then struck by a Nissan SUV.

"He pretty much T-boned him," Parsons said.

Police closed the ramp to Dorsey Road eastbound for about 10 minutes while fire and emergency medical services crews prepared to transport the driver of the Volkswagen, Parsons said.

Glen Burnie: Strong-arm robbery

Two men robbed a 17-year-old boy Thursday night near the intersection of Ritchie Highway and Warfield Road in Glen Burnie, police said.

According to police, officers responded to the 4300 block of Ritchie Highway in Brooklyn Park to speak with the teen at about 8:20 p.m.

Police said the teen was riding his bicycle in the area of Ritchie Highway and Warfield Road at about 8:20 p.m. when two men approached him on foot and threatened to assault him. The teen said one of the men pushed him from behind, causing him to fall from his bicycle, then took the bike and rode in the direction of Arundel Corporation Road, according to police reports. The other suspect ran in the direction of Warfield Road.

Police and a K-9 unit searched the area but were unable to find the men.

Glen Burnie: Drug arrests

Police arrested two Glen Burnie men Tuesday after conducting a search-and-seizure warrant in the 1200 block of Leonard Drive.

Police arrested Joseph Edward Asquith Jr, 23, and Stephen Carville Downes, 22. Asquith was charged with possession of Suboxone, a painkiller, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Downes was charged with possession of marijuana.

Before executing the warrant, police said they saw Asquith leaving the residence in the 1200 block of Leonard Drive and get into a vehicle driven by Downes. Officers stopped the vehicle and detained Asquith in accordance with the warrant. Police said Asquith and Downes allowed them to search the vehicle and found 1.93 grams of suspected marijuana. Officers then searched the residence and found one Suboxone pill and drug paraphernalia as well as $349.
