Glen Burnie: Armed robbery

Officers responded to the Shell gas station located in the 300 block of Hospital Drive Sunday for a reported robbery.

Police arrived at about 9:33 p.m. and spoke with a 31-year-old store clerk who said a man entered the store, displayed a shotgun and demanded money. The clerk said he complied by giving the man an undisclosed amount of money and then he fled the area on foot.

Officers and a K-9 unit searched the area but were unable to locate the man, police said.

Brooklyn Park: Assault arrest

Police arrested a man Saturday for the assault of his child’s mother after he was accused of firing a handgun in her direction.

Maurice Joseph Medley, 21, of Brooklyn Park was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, reckless endangerment and related handgun offenses.

According to police, officers responded to the 200 block of Berlin Avenue for reported shots fired but were unable to locate the victim or suspect. Through investigation, officers determined that Medley got into a domestic-related argument with the mother of his child during which he fired a handgun, police said. The woman said the handgun was fired in her direction, police said.

Medley was later located and arrested at about 5 p.m.

Glen Burnie: Robbery arrest

Police arrested a Baltimore man Friday in connection with the robbery of a Sunoco station in Glen Burnie.

Joseph Veneble Lunzell, 48, of Baltimore was charged with robbery, felony theft and assault.

According to police, officers arrived at the Sunoco station in the 300 block of Hospital Drive at about noon Friday for a reported robbery. Officers were told that Lunzell entered the business, took an undisclosed amount of money and assaulted the clerk during a struggle before running from the scene.

Officers searched the area and found Lunzell, who matched the description the clerk gave of the suspect, on Highland Drive at about 12:22 p.m. and the clerk identified Lunzell as the man who robbed the store.

Glen Burnie: Arrest for possession of a handgun

Police arrested a 15-year-old boy from Glen Burnie Thursday for possession of a handgun.

Police responded to the area near Freetown and New Freetown roads in Glen Burnie at about 4:37 p.m. when witnesses reported seeing a young man armed with a handgun. When police arrived, they saw the teen holding a loaded semi-automatic handgun and waving it in the air.

He was arrested without incident. He is being charged as a juvenile.

Glen Burnie: Armed robbery

Police said a man robbed a clerk at the Xtra Mart located in the 7700 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie at gunpoint.

According to police, officers arrived at the Xtra Mart and spoke to a clerk who said that a man came into the store, pulled a firearm and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied and the man ran from the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Officers and a K-9 unit searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Glen Burnie: Drug arrests

Police arrested two men in the Sun Valley neighborhood Tuesday after conducting a two-month investigation into illegal drug activity in the area.

Robert Warren Myers, 44, and Steven Edward Brown, 38, both of Glen Burnie, were arrested after police served a search warrant for drugs in the 7800 block of Cheverly Lane.

Myers was charged with the distribution of cocaine, possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession of cocaine, possession of with intent to distribute hydrocodone and possession of hydrocodone.

Brown was charged with possession of cocaine.

According to police, detectives served the warrant at about 7 a.m. Tuesday when they found the men in the residence with the drugs as well as money and several guns. Officers found the residence to be unlivable and contacted the Anne Arundel County Health Department and Inspections and Permits.

The residence was deemed to be unsafe and “condemned” and “no trespassing” signs were posted, police said.

Detectives seized 7.2 grams of crack cocaine, $324 in cash and six shotguns/rifles.

Glen Burnie: Burglary arrest

Police arrested a Glen Burnie man who they said is responsible for a series of garage burglaries in Crownsville in April and May.

Brian Lawrence Tholen, 27, of Glen Burnie was arrested May 13 at his Forestdale Avenue residence and charged with burglary, theft and destruction of property.

According to a release from police, during the course of the investigation, officers identified Tholen as a suspect and obtained a search warrant for his home. During the search, detectives said they found items stolen from multiple residences throughout the county, police said.

As of 9:40 a.m. Tuesday, Tholen was being held in the Anne Arundel County Detention Center on $175,000 bail.

The investigation is ongoing and police ask anyone with information on the burglaries or Tholen to call Detective Dutton of the Western District at 410-222-6155 or Detective Bethea of the Northern District at 410-222-6135.

Brooklyn Park: Robbery

Anne Arundel County Police are asking the public for help in locating two suspects who broke into the yard of Novatech Inc. on April 24 and stole sheet metal.

According to police, two suspects broke into the yard located in the 200 block of Thomas Avenue in Brooklyn Park at about 8:07 p.m. and stole several pieces of sheet metal from a dumpster.

Police have not identified the vehicle used in the theft, but ask anyone with information on the people in the photograph to contact Detective Mark Bethea of the Northern District at 410-222-6135.
