When police arrived at Ann's Dari-Creme in the 7900 block of Ritchie Highway, they discovered that Sherman had injuries in his upper torso that were consistent with wounds from a stabbing, said Anne Arundel County Police Lt. John McAndrews. Sherman's body was taken from BWMC to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. McAndrew said the investigation led police to believe Sherman was stabbed before the crash.

Officers responded to Ann's at about 10:20 p.m. Sunday for a reported accident with injuries.

Once on the scene, officers learned that Sherman was driving east on Americana Circle when he lost control of the green 2006 Dodge Magnum station wagon and crossed Ritchie Highway, including a grassy median, jumped the curb and hit a table in the Ann's parking lot where a 15-year-old girl was sitting with her family. The station wagon continued through the parking lot when it hit a tree and came to a stop.

The 15-year-old girl suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries and was taken to Johns Hopkins Children's Center in Baltimore. Her condition was unknown as of 3:30 p.m. Monday, McAndrew said. He said he could not confirm if other pedestrians were injured in the accident.

Police are treating the case as a homicide. No motive has been determined and the homicide remains under investigation. Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call Detective Bryan Isaac at 410-222-3413.
