Glen Burnie: Accident

A 40-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman were transported to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore after a collision Friday at Farrington and Guildford roads in Glen Burnie, said fire spokesman Chief Michael Cox.

Both people have serious injuries that were not life-threatening, Cox said. Details are sketchy on the accident, however. Cox could not confirm the number of cars involved in the accident or whether the patients were in the same vehicle.

He referred further questions to the Anne Arundel County police department. A department spokesman could not be reached for comment.

Glen Burnie: Revoked warrant

Police revoked the warrant against a Brooklyn Park man they said was believed to be responsible for a hit-and-run accident that occurred Sunday morning in Glen Burnie.

The accident sent a woman and an infant to area hospitals.

Police issued a warrant for Juan Adrien Perez, 27, but revoked it after investigation ruled him out as a suspect, according to a police press release.

Glen Burnie Patch received an anonymous call Monday night from a reader who stated that Perez was not the man involved in the hit-and-run. Patch spoke with police who said on Tuesday morning that at the time they had no reason to believe the information they provided was incorrect.

Officers responded to the 200 block of 8th Avenue NW in Glen Burnie shortly before 10 a.m. Sunday for a reported accident with injuries.

Officers spoke with the 48-year-old driver of a white Dodge Caravan who was driving east on 8th Avenue near Mary Wagner Lane when he said a red 1996 Acura coupe that was driving west on 8th Avenue did not stay to the right of the center lane and hit the Caravan head on.

At that point, the man said the driver got out of the Acura and ran away while the car's passengers stayed on the scene.

An 8-month-old infant riding in the Acura was taken to the Baltimore Washington Medical Center for precautionary purposes, police said, and a 43-year-old woman, who was in the Caravan, was taken to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore to be treated for serious injuries that were not life-threatening injuries.

Officers and a K-9 unit searched the area but were unable to locate the man, police said.

The investigation is ongoing at this time and the release said officers examined the information initially provided by witnesses at the scene. Police urge anyone with information on the accident to contact the Northern District at 410-222-6135.

Hanover: Drug arrests

Two men were arrested in Hanover Thursday and charged with possessing more than 8,200 grams of marijuana with an estimated street value of about $165,000, according to a release from Anne Arundel County Police.

Police said the two men frequently visited a hotel in the Hanover area, but did not specify which one.

The men were identified as Romain Davis, 25, of Glen Burnie and Herwood Walters II, 24, of Coral Springs, FL.

Police said they worked alongside the Special Enforcement Section and the Maryland State Police Interdiction Group as part of the investigation.

The two men have been charged with intent to distribute and possession of marijuana.

Police said the investigation is ongoing and that no additional information was available.

Glen Burnie: Drug arrest

Anne Arundel County Police arrested a Glenn Dale man Wednesday after they say they saw drugs in his car during a traffic stop in Glen Burnie.

Rodney Andrew Medford, 27, was charged with possession of heroin, possession of heroin with the intent to distribute, resisting arrest and other related charges, according to a police report.

Officers pulled Medford over at about 2:40 p.m. Wednesday as he was driving on I-97 southbound in the area of Quarterfield Road in Glen Burnie. Police said that an officer saw drugs fall out of Medford's pocket as he reached into the glove compartment to get the car's registration card and he tried to run away, but was arrested at the scene.

Officers recovered more than 30 capsules of suspected heroin from the scene.

Glen Burnie: Drug arrest

Anne Arundel County Police arrested a Baltimore man Wednesday afternoon after he fled his car when he was pulled over in Glen Burnie for a traffic violation.

Ronnie Burrell Jr., 26, was charged with possession of marijuana and possession with intent to distribute marijuana, according to a police press release.

Detectives pulled Burrell over at about 2:15 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Quarterfield Road and Landmark Drive and after stopping his car police said he ran away into a nearby area. Officers said while he was running he threw a bag that was later determined to contain more than 100 grams of marijuana. Police chased him on foot and caught him.

Severna Park: Armed robbery arrests

Police arrested a Pasadena man and a Glen Burnie woman early Wednesday morning in connection with the armed robbery of Carini’s Pizza Tuesday in Severna Park.

Robert Lee Thomas Jr., 30, of Pasadena and Carrie Marie Bryan, 29, of Glen Burnie were charged with armed robbery and related charges in connection with Tuesday’s incident, according to a police press release. They both remained in custody at the Anne Arundel County Jennifer Road Detention Center as of Thursday morning.

Police said they believe the pair is connected to the armed robberies of on May 17 in Glen Burnie, Shell gas station on May 24 in Glen Burnie and Lowest Price Gas Station on June 1 in Pasadena. The court commissioner is reviewing an application to bring charges against Thomas and Bryan.

According to the release, officers found the Chevrolet Camaro that witnesses said they saw fleeing the scene heading west on Earleigh Heights Road after the robbery of Carini’s Pizza, located in the 100 block of Ritchie Highway in Severna Park. Police found the Camaro in front of Thomas’s residence on Maple Avenue in Pasadena.

As a result of the investigation, interviews and a search and seizure warrant, officers charged Thomas and Bryan.

Glen Burnie Incidents Under Investigation

Officers responded to the Shell gas station located in the 300 block of Hospital Drive May 24 for a reported robbery.

Police arrived at about 9:33 p.m. and spoke with a 31-year-old store clerk who said a man entered the store, displayed a shotgun and demanded money. The clerk said he complied by giving the man an undisclosed amount of money and then he fled the area on foot.

Officers and a K-9 unit searched the area but were unable to locate the man, police said.

Police said a man robbed a clerk at the Xtra Mart located in the 7700 block of Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard in Glen Burnie May 17 at gunpoint.

According to police, officers arrived at the Xtra Mart and spoke to a clerk who said that a man came into the store, pulled a firearm and demanded money from the register. The clerk complied and the man ran from the scene with an undisclosed amount of money.

Officers and a K-9 unit searched the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Glen Burnie: Fatal pedestrian

Douglas Frank Pohlman, 51, was struck by a vehicle as he tried to cross the road in front of the Cromwell Light Rail Station on Tuesday and later died from his injuries, according to police.

A release from Anne Arundel County Police stated that officers from the Northern District responded to 7390 Baltimore Annapolis Blvd. around 2:23 p.m. to find a pedestrian lying in the roadway with life threatening injuries. Police report that the primary cause of the crash was pedestrian error and alcohol may have been a contributing factor (on the part of the pedestrian).

Pohlman, a Davidsonville resident, was identified as the pedestrian who was attempting to cross Baltimore Annapolis Boulevard. Pohlman was struck by a Chevrolet Impala driven by a Pennsylvania man traveling north, according to police. Although police believe Pohlman was not in a designated crosswalk, he reportedly crossed the roadway between two designated crosswalks marked with operating pedestrian signals.

Police report that Pohlman was taken to the University of MarylandΒ Shock Trauma Center, where he died.

An investigation of the incident is ongoing.

Glen Burnie: Stabbing/attempted robbery

A man was stabbed Tuesday as he was walking in the area behind the Target store in Glen Burnie, police said.

According to a police press release, police responded to the wooded area behind the Target located in the 6700 block of Ritchie Highway at about 2:35 p.m. for a reported attempted robbery.

Police spoke with a man who said he was walking in the area and was approached by a man who demanded money. The victim said the man grabbed him and the two engaged in a struggle during which the victim was stabbed several times by the man. According to police, the man then ran from the area.

Several officers, a K-9 unit and the Aviation Unit searched the area but were unable to locate the man. The victim was taken to the Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore with injuries that were not life-threatening.
