GLEN BURNIE, MD — A woman has died and another person is injured following a crash Thursday afternoon in Glen Burnie, and a driver is facing several serious charges in connection with the crash, police said.

Prior to the crash, police said a Hyundai Elantra driven by Tramellia Nicole Wright, 47, of Glen Burnie was stopped completely on the right shoulder of Route 10 with a reported flat tire.

According to witnesses who were traveling directly behind the Ford, the car was unable to maintain its lane of travel.

At one point, police said, Pickett's car left its lane and crossed adjacent lanes directly onto the right shoulder. As a result, the Ford struck Wright and her Hyundai, which was pushed forward and into the Dodge van.

Police said Dillard suffered minor injuries and refused medical services at the scene. Wright was pronounced dead at the scene.

Due to roadside observations, police said, field sobriety tests were administered to Pickett.

He was ultimately taken into custody for further testing, was determined to be under the influence and was placed under arrest, police said. After consultation with the Anne Arundel County State's Attorney's Office, police said, Pickett was charged with:

  • Manslaughter by auto
  • Criminal negligent manslaughter
  • Homicide by MV impaired by drugs
  • Homicide by MV impaired by CDS
  • Driving while impaired by drugs
  • Driving while impaired by CDS

Police said an autopsy will be conducted at the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore to determine Wright's exact cause of death.

The police department's Traffic Safety Section is continuing to investigate the crash.
