Fatal Fire Victim Identified After Glen Burnie House Blaze

Firefighters identified the victim of a fatal Glen Burnie blaze. He was 59 years old.

GLEN BURNIE, MD — Officials recently released the name of a man who died in a Glen Burnie house fire.

The fire department on Friday identified the victim as Anthony Slough. He was 59 years old.

An autopsy determined that a May 5 fire caused Slough's death.

Someone driving by noticed smoke and fire coming from 410 Summit Ave. (Marley) in Glen Burnie and called 911 around 6:04 a.m. The Anne Arundel County Fire Department responded with 35 firefighters and found a single-family, one-story home in flames and smoke.

Crews extinguished the fire and found an adult male during a search of the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The fire department said this is the second fire-related death in Anne Arundel County in 2023. On May 3, John S. Billing, 54, died as a result of injuries he suffered during a fire at his home, which had working smoke alarms.

Anne Arundel County Fire investigators are still working to determine the cause of the May 5 fire. No damage estimate has been released.

There were no smoke detectors in the home, the department said.
