Homeless Resource Day, a new Judy Center and a Shooting

We look back at some of the stories from the week of March 28 to April 3.

Glen Burnie residents were left feeling uneasy Tuesday when a 23-year-old Snow Hill man was at about 12:45 p.m. Police said the man was shot by two men in the parking lot at Marley station and then two acquaintances took the victim to a nearby Dunkin’ Donuts where they called for help. According to police, the incident was not a random act of violence.

An estimated traveled to Glen Burnie High School March 26 to receive access to resources such as housing, medical and social services. It was the fourth time the event was held in Anne Arundel County.

Hilltop Elementary celebrated the for young, at-risk students Wednesday with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The Judy Center works with children from birth through age 5 to ensure they enter school on a level playing field.

Maryland crowned a Wednesday when Sterling Dorn of Prince George’s County won the competition held at the Chesapeake Arts Center in Brooklyn Park for his rendition of “It’s Not Unusual.” He was one of 16 men and women over age 50 to compete in the singing contest that raised money to benefit the Maryland Food Bank.
