Millersville Woman Killed in Two-Car Crain Highway Accident

Police say they suspect the man involved in the accident had been drinking alcohol and continue to investigate the Tuesday morning accident.

A Millersville woman was killed in a two-car accident Tuesday morning in Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County Police said.

Wilda Scott, 67, was declared dead on the scene.

The initial investigation has led investigators to believe the driver of the other car, Young Jea Kim, 52, of Glen Burnie was drunk, said county police spokesman Lt. Michael Brothers.

According to a police release, officers responded to the area of Crain Highway South and Madison Park Drive for a reported accident. Once on the scene, first responders found a gray Honda Civic, driven by Scott, and a silver/green Chevrolet 2500 pickup truck, driven by Kim, in the front yard of 1412 Crain Highway S.

Scott was unresponsive at the scene and she was declared dead. Kim suffered serious injuries and was taken to the shock trauma center in Baltimore.

According to the preliminary investigation, police said Kim was driving his truck south on Crain Highway when Scott was leaving the Tan Office Park in the 1400 block of Crain.

Police said Scott was attempting to pull across three lanes of traffic to reach the median.

Once Scott pulled onto Crain Highway, police said she was hit broadside by Kim with both vehicles traveling 200 feet after the initial impact and ending up in the yard at 1415 Crain Highway S.

Preliminarily it appears that driver error, speed and alcohol contributed to the seriousness of this crash, police said. The incident remains under investigation by the Traffic Safety Section.
