Patch Whiz Kid of the Week: Cassandra Yates
Glen Burnie High senior Cassandra Yates ran a school-wide fundraiser for the Red Cross to help with Japan earthquake and tsunami relief.

- Whiz Kidโs Accomplishment: Cassie, a senior at Glen Burnie, organized a fundraising event with the National Honor Society and the American Red Cross to raise money for Japan earthquake and tsunami relief.
- Whiz Kidโs Key to Awesomeness: Cassie recently initiated and ran a school-wide fundraiser for the Red Cross to help the people of Japan after the devastating earthquake and tsunami in March. The event raised more than $1,500 for the recovery efforts.
"Her enthusiasm motivated students and staff alike in an international service project," said assistant principal Elena Thomas.
Cassie is a member of the National Honor Society, she has volunteered for several events at school this year, including preparing for the NHS induction ceremony, escorting parents and students at Bio-Medial Allied Health informational events and collecting for local food and clothing drive, Thomas said.
