โ€œSafeties are to be positive role models at all times, and Josh truly exemplifies that,โ€ Jane McKain, Rippling Woodsโ€™ safety patrol advisor, wrote in her nomination of Josh.

According to the press release, McKain shared the story of one incident that exemplified the reasons Josh deserved the honor. McKain recalled that a student was injured in the hallway as school was being dismissed and Josh called for help and then turned his attention to making sure students who were heading home moved through the hallway to avoid a logjam, according to the release.

โ€œJoshโ€™s quick and appropriate response was instrumental in getting the proper assistance for this ... student,โ€ McKain wrote.
