Pedstrian Struck on Crain Highway, Critically Hurt

Police said Donald Wayne Warfield was struck while trying to cross the road.

A man was rushed to Shock Trauma on Friday night after being struck by a car while trying to cross Crain Highway in Glen Burnie, Anne Arundel County police said. 

The incident happened at about 8:30 p.m. on Crain Highway just north of Hospital Drive. Police said Donald Wayne Warfield, 55, tried to cross going east to west when he was struck by a 2005 Toyota Corolla. He was taken to Shock Trauma and his injuries were described as life threatening. 

The case is under investigation, but police said there are preliminary indications that pedestrian error was the primary cause of the incident. There was no evidence of alcohol use or excessive speed on the part of the driver.
